Kite Runner // Title Sequence
The Kite Runner is an unforgettable, heartbreaking story of the unlikely friendship between a wealthy boy and the son of his father's servant, a beautifully crafted novel set in a country that is in the process of being destroyed. It is about the power of reading, the price of betrayal, and the possibility of redemption. I chose to show the devastation that held Afghanistan during the duration of the story. This is shown through the eyes of Hasan, the character that was left behind. The characters are represented by kites flying through the air, as Hasan’s story shows his experience of the regime change, while the other kite has flown away. The opening credits demonstrate the dissonance between the different environments that in the end offers closure and a glimmer of hope.
