Mean Girls // Website Design
This project’s goal was to create an interactive website based on a movie, with an emphasis on user experience and user interface. The website is based Mean Girls, a teenage cult movie showing girls’ social challenges during high school. The purpose of the website is to give the user a feel of the high school experience. As the user goes through the website, he\she discovers rumours about other high school students. This is done in order to criticise the pleasure we get from hurting others to feel better about ourselves. The website is designed as the scattered pages of the “Burn Book” from the movie. These pages reveal gossip about other students in the class, along with graphic elements that strengthen the experience of going through a teenage scrapbook. Between these pages is a questioner, which in the end reveals the high school clique you belong to, but it’s real purpose is to teach you a lesson by actually exposing a rumour about you.
